ViroBox

Infinite storage using discord sacrificial accounts and webhooks

personal cloud · discord-backed

Your files, scattered across Discord.

Folders become multi-volume archives, parts fan out across pool webhooks, and every download streams back SHA-verified — at line speed from the desktop app, or straight from the browser.

How it works

1 Pick files drop a file or a whole folder in Upload — single files stay raw, folders get bundled
2 Parts scatter 19MB volumes fan out across your pool's webhooks, paced per channel
3 Download anywhere the index maps every part back — verified, resumable, playable in-page

Upload

1 · pick pool   2 · drop files

Drop files → split across Discord → one archive back. Verified per part.

Add a server

turn a Discord server into storage — webhooks only, no bot in the server

Use a burner Discord account, or one you don't care about losing. Hosting files on Discord can get accounts banned.

The optimal setup

6 webhooks · 6 channels

Discord rate-limits per channel — every webhook in the same channel shares that one message queue, so six webhooks in one channel upload no faster than one. Put each webhook in its own channel and uploads run six queues in parallel (measured ~46 MB/s across six channels vs a crawl on one). ViroBox paces each channel at ~2 messages/s and fails a part over to the next webhook when one is throttled, so more channels = more headroom.

Fewer channels still work — the rule that matters is one webhook per channel.

1 · Create the channels & webhooks

  1. Make 6 channels in your server (e.g. #viro-1 … #viro-6).
  2. In each channel: Channel settings → Integrations → Webhooks → New → Copy Webhook URL.
  3. Enable Developer Mode (Settings → Advanced), then right-click each channel → Copy Channel ID.

You'll end up with 6 webhook URLs and 6 channel IDs, one pair per channel.

2 · Link them all in one command

DM the ViroBox bot a single !link with every url/channel pair:

!link <url1> <ch1> <url2> <ch2> <url3> <ch3> <url4> <ch4> <url5> <ch5> <url6> <ch6> private MyServer
  • private → only you see the pool; public → everyone's Library sees it.
  • MyServer is the nickname shown in the UI (optional).
  • Add or remove pairs any time — the bot keeps existing parts downloadable.

3 · Check it landed

!list

Prints each pool with its webhooks, quota and usage, and marks (retired) links that keep old files downloadable but take no new parts.

Everyday commands

!listpools, webhooks, usage
!quotafree space on each pool
!setquota private|public|<id|label> <GB>raise a pool's cap
!direct <id|label> on|offlet the PC app upload/download straight to Discord
!linkupdate <id|label> <url> [channel] …add channels, or swap a dead webhook
!op add|remove <user> <pool>let a ViroChat user edit the pool on the website
!op add|remove <@user|id|name> <pool> discordlet a Discord account manage the pool from the bot
!unlink [id|label]remove a pool

[id|label] can be left out when you have exactly one server — the bot uses it by default. !list prints the id next to each pool if a nickname is ambiguous. A discord op manages the pool from the bot (!setquota, !direct, !linkupdate, !op); a plain op edits the pool on the website.
